Hey, it’s Andy with Mid-MO Dents! Today, we’re applying our high-tech Ceramic Pro window tint on a 2024 Can-Am Defender. We’re tinting the front windows with 20% and the side and back windows with 5%.
When dealing with side-by-sides, the job can take longer due to tight seals and extra prep work, especially if the vehicle’s been used off-road. We recommend ceramic tint for superior heat rejection, glare reduction, and comfort, especially for these types of vehicles. Let's walk you through the process!
Ceramic window tinting is ideal for side-by-sides because these vehicles often lack strong air conditioning and are driven in extreme environments like trails or off-road areas. Ceramic tint blocks more heat than standard tints, making it a perfect option for customers wanting to stay cool. It also reduces glare, making evening drives much safer.
Most side-by-side customers tend to choose ceramic tint for its heat-reducing properties and better visibility, especially when driving without AC. It’s an upgrade that’s well worth it!
Since this Can-Am Defender was brand new, we didn’t have to deal with much dirt, but typically, these vehicles require thorough cleaning due to their off-road use. We always tape off the rubbers around the windows and meticulously clean all the surrounding panels. This helps avoid any contamination during the installation process.
On the roll-down windows, we used the two-stage tinting method, which allows us to apply the tint without removing door panels. These windows are glass, but some models can come with plastic windows. It's important to confirm that with the customer, as tinting plastic windows is risky and can lead to damage if the tint fails.
Using our plotter and cutting software, we cut the tint patterns. Even though the software didn’t have a pattern for the 2024 model, the 2023 pattern worked perfectly. This just shows how important it is to double-check the software when working with newer vehicles.
The back window on the Can-Am Defender had bars obstructing the tint application, so we removed the glass for better access. After cleaning the edges thoroughly, we applied the tint and carefully reinstalled the glass.
Taking extra care with cleaning and prepping is critical to achieving a flawless finish. We used a razor blade, glass cleaner, and an air compressor to remove any hidden dust before applying the tint.
Once we finished, the Can-Am Defender looked amazing! With 20% ceramic tint on the front windows and 5% on the sides and back, this vehicle is now protected from glare and heat, perfect for off-road adventures. The only aftercare advice for the customer was to avoid harsh cleaning methods on the inside of the windows, as the tint can scratch easily.
