Shrinking Back Windows: Irish Spring Soap Trick
In today's video, we're showcasing a unique and highly effective way to shrink back windows without the use of dryer sheets or soapy water. Here's how we do it:
Step 1: Cleaning the Window
Begin by cleaning and scrubbing the back glass as you normally would, removing all debris and contaminants.
Step 2: The Mix
Instead of traditional methods, we use a mix of 91% isopropyl alcohol and water (50/50 ratio). This helps the soap dry faster.
Step 3: Irish Spring Soap
This is where the magic happens. Take a bar of Irish Spring soap inside a soap bag, and scrub the back glass. This will leave a light haze of soap, making the shrinking process incredibly smooth and efficient.
Step 4: Applying the Tint Film
Trim off the excess film, about half an inch around the pattern, and apply it to the back glass. Use the traditional H pattern to secure the film. As you begin shrinking, you'll notice the film responds just as well (if not better) than the old dryer sheet method.
Step 5: Cleanup
Once shrunk, take the film to the peel board to weed the excess out. For cleaning, use two towels: one to remove the soap and another for a final buff.
