Hey, it’s Andy with Mid-MO Dents! Today, we're ceramic coating a new Harley-Davidson Road Glide with our 5-year ceramic package, covering everything from paint, plastics, chrome, wheels, windows, and even the leather. Let's walk through the process.
We started by removing the saddlebags to access the rear fender and coat all sides of the bags. Using a wax and grease remover, we prepped the bike’s surface to eliminate any oils or spray wax, ensuring a clean surface for the ceramic coating. Clean microfiber towels were used during the process to prevent contamination, and we replaced them afterward to avoid scratches.
After prepping, we used the three-towel method to level the ceramic coating, ensuring an even finish. Our ceramic product takes 2-5 minutes to flash before leveling, so we worked panel by panel. The coating begins to sweat and turn rainbow-colored, signaling it’s ready to be wiped. It’s essential to start wiping at this stage before the coating hardens, which can make removal difficult without buffing.
While motorcycles may be smaller than cars, coating them is time-consuming due to all the small, hard-to-reach areas. Coating the wheels is particularly tricky, as we had to rotate the bike to cover each section. For the leather, we applied the coating to ensure extra protection, which also helps with future cleanings.
We let the coating cure overnight for 12 hours before reassembling the bike. The final result? Enhanced gloss, slickness, and much easier cleaning. With the 5-year ceramic package, this Road Glide will stay protected for years, with no need for additional waxing or detailing sprays.
